John is Growth Director at the LEP responsible for driving economic growth, investment and innovation across Cheshire and Warrington, including leading on the strategic development of the Cheshire Science Corridor and £200m Enterprise Zone. He works collaboratively with landowners, developers and local authority partners to identify, drive forward and promote opportunities for new development and investment into the sub-region and then support their development and delivery.
John has 25 years’ experience in urban planning, strategic land and property, regeneration and economic development. He joined the LEP in 2017 from Staffordshire University where he was commercial director responsible for leading the University’s engagement with business and industry and economic development programmes and projects. He was previously a Director of Development at DTZ (now Cushman & Wakefield) and head of DTZ’s Liverpool Office, before joining Savills as Head of Strategic Development in Manchester. John’s early career was spent in local and regional economic development including European Policy Officer for the North West region and as a Regeneration Manager with Lancashire Enterprises.
John has extensive experience of leading on strategic land and property projects including options, viability and financial appraisal, economic, investment and innovation strategies, sub-regional and city strategies, area development frameworks and masterplans. He has strong brokerage and negotiating skills with the ability to construct complex commercial land and property deals.
