Grant Application Consultation – Unlocking Winsford Industrial Land

Cheshire West and Chester Council have requested a grant of £3.8m towards the costs of the “Unlocking Winsford Industrial Land” project from the LEPs Local Growth Fund Programme.

A brief description of the project is below:

30ha of new employment land has been identified at the northern end of Winsford 1-5 Industrial Estate. The proposals consist of a new highway alignment, upgrading of the local road network, a new entrance to the industrial estate and other necessary enabling works to unlock the clear development opportunity the land presents. The new employment land is split over two sites either side of Road 1. The new access will open up both sides providing a modern gateway to new development whilst also having a massive benefit to the existing industrial estate.

Winsford Industrial Estate is extremely well positioned to capture the direct benefits from improved links to the M6 motorway network via the proposed Middlewich Bypass scheme. Its economy is already influenced by its proximity to the motorway network, as well as good A roads linking to Chester, North Wales and Merseyside, making it a popular location for businesses to flourish.

A total investment of £5,000,000 will enable £90m of private sector investment and create circa 2000 jobs.

Any person that would like to comment on the application should do so by the 1st October 2017 by email to either:
