On behalf of Cheshire and Warrington LEP, Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub provides support and information to businesses.  During this time, we will be providing the very latest guidance in relation to Covid-19 for your business along with details of existing and new support packages to help our businesses minimise the impact on their immediate and longer-term operations.

Grant Funding

All businesses in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR) and Rural Rates Relief (RRR) in the business rates system are eligible for a £10,000 grant.

Businesses in receipt of the Expanded Retail Discount (which covers retail, hospitality and leisure) with a rateable value of less than £51,000 are eligible for cash grants of £10,000 or £25,000 depending on your rateable value.

Businesses across Cheshire and Warrington are now receiving these grants into their bank accounts, to receive the grants businesses are being asked to confirm/provide their bank details directly to their relevant local authority. Please click the relevant link below to provide your details.

Business Survey
We would like to understand how the Covid-19 support from national and local government is helping businesses in the sub-region. We will share this information with government, to gain a better understanding of support needed for businesses in Cheshire and Warrington. Please take a couple of minutes to do this if you can, to help us understand what support is needed. Complete the survey
Bounce Back Loan Scheme 
Launched on Monday, the Bounce Back Loan Scheme will help small and medium-sized businesses to borrow between £2,000 and £50,000 and access the finance in a matter of days.

  • The government will guarantee 100% of the loan and there won’t be any fees or interest to pay for the first 12 months.
  • Loan terms will be up to 6 years. No repayments will be due during the first 12 months.  Find out more
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme 
The scheme is now live and some businesses are now receiving their cash grants. Businesses can still go online now to claim cash grants worth up to 80% of wages, capped at £2,500 a month per worker. To claim for furloughed employees, you will need to have:

  • created and started a PAYE payroll scheme on or before 19 March 2020
  • enrolled for PAYE online
  • a UK bank account  Start your claim here

Skills Toolkit Launched
The government has launched The Skills Toolkit, which allows adults to access free, high quality online courses whilst at home. This will enable them to build new skills and help boost growth and productivity.
The Skills Toolkit is available to everyone and consists of digital and numeracy courses, ranging from basic to more advanced levels. These are skills that are sought after for many types of jobs.
