Bentley Motors starts work on Crewe HQ project
Luxury carmaker Bentley Motors has started work on a huge project at its Crewe headquarters.
A total of 10,000 solar panels are being installed as part of what will be the UK’s largest solar-powered car port.
It will take approximately six months to complete and increase the company’s energy system to 30,815 panels, including the 20,815-strong roof top installation which took place in 2013.
The port will cover 1,378 car parking spaces across an area of 176,000 sq ft, and be installed and operated by FlexiSolar. The project is being backed by Innovate UK.
Peter Bosch, Bentley’s member of the board for manufacturing, said: “We continue to focus on new initiatives that reinforce our commitment to the environment, whether this is introducing alternative powertrain technologies in future models, or our award-winning work to reduce the environmental impact of our factory.
